Nevada vs San Jose State Preview

Week 5 of college football continues Saturday evening with a great matchup between the Nevada-Reno Wolfpack visiting the San Jose State Spartans.

Nevada experienced its first loss of the season last week, while San Jose State has lost two straight.

Nevada is 2-1 SU and ATS on the season, while San Jose State is 1-2 SU and ATS.

Nevada played well last week against Arizona before finally losing 35-28. Cody Fajardo leads the Wolfpack at quarterback. Against Arizona, he had 329 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.

The Spartans were hoping to upset Minnesota last week on the road but their offense did not show up for the game and they lost 24-7.

The SJSU defense allowed 380 yards on the ground by Minnesota, while the offense could only muster 284 total yards, as they turned the ball over 5 times.

Blake Jurich at quarterback for SJSU could not get untracked and only had 161 yards through the air with one touchdown and 2 picks.

Keys to Nevada Win

The Wolfpack must continue scoring behind the talented Fajardo as well as the rushing game until the Spartans can stop the run. The defense for Nevada must keep Jurich in check and shutdown the Spartans running game.

Keys to San Jose State Win

The Spartans must improve their offensive output on both the ground and air. San Jose State cannot turn the ball over. Defensively they must stop the run.

Conclusion

Nevada has too strong of an offense for San Jose State to stay up with them. Fajardo will prove too strong and too accurate for the Spartans defense to stop. Nevada in a close one but will win and cover.
