Marshall Rakeem CatoHUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Ohio Bobcats are 1-1 following a 20-3 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats and will face the Marshall Thundering Herd who are 2-0 after blowing out Rhode Island Rams 48-7.

The Bobcats are averaging 330 yards and 10 points per game. Junior Daz’mond Patterson has rushed for 105 yards and redshirt junior quarterback Derrius Vick has 56 yards rushing and 262 yards passing with two scores. Senior receiver Landon Smith has eight catches and redshirt freshman Brendan Cope leads with 128 yards receiving. Ohio is allowing 348.5 yards and 17 points per game on average led by redshirt junior Javon Johnson’s 23 tackles, 2.5 for loss. Redshirt freshman linebacker Quentin Poling has 15 tackles with three for loss.

The Thundering Herd average 578 yards and 45 points per game led by a solid rushing attack. Junior running back Devon Johnson leads that attack with 288 yards and three touchdowns. Senior quarterback Rakeem Cato is the key cog of the attack with 528 yards passing with five scores and 133 yards rushing and two more scores. Redshirt junior Davonte Allen leads receivers with eight catches for 168 yards. Marshall has been good on defense, having allowed 296.5 yards and 17 points per game. Sophomore safety Tiquan Lang leads the team with 12 tackles, 1.5 for loss while senior defensive lineman Arnold Blackmon has 2.5 tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries.

Keys for Ohio Win

The Bobcats need Vick to get the offense on track and on schedule by developing into the playmaker at QB. Patterson needs to be more productive out of the backfield. The defense needs to keep Johnson involved and let his play-making ability shape the game.

Keys For Marshall Win

Cato must continue keying the offense and being efficient and productive as a dual-threat QB. Blackmon must take charge for the defense at the line of scrimmage.
