Seattle Seahawks vs San diego Chargers Preview

on

Kicking off week two of the regular season, the Seattle Seahawks face off against the San Diego Chargers on the Chargers’ home turf of Qualcomm Stadium. Last week, the Seahawks defeated the Green Bay Packers with a final score of 36-16 in their first regular season game of 2014. The Chargers faced off against the Arizona Cardinals in week one and narrowly lost the game with a final score of 18-17. The Seahawks come into the second week with a record of 1-0 and the Chargers start with a record of 0-1.

The Seahawks showed in week one why other teams in the NFL should fear them. Their powerful offense quickly overwhelmed the Packers and repeatedly scored with relative ease. The combination of Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson and cornerback Richard Sherman is sure to be a big factor in the game. If the Chargers cannot slow the Seahawks’ offense early, the Chargers will end up running out of steam and the Seahawks will grab the win.

The Chargers have been allowing way too many points and not operating effectively defensively. The Seahawks are going to take every opportunity to move the ball down the field and it is the job of the Chargers’ defense to stop them. San Diego’s offense must also find a way to pick up some yards on early downs if they hope to have a chance against the Seahawks.

The Seahawks will be playing on Sunday without TE Cooper Helfet and CB Tharold Simon who are both recovering from knee injuries. Seahawks’ LB Kevin Pierre-Louis and RB Christine Michael are both sidelined with hamstring injuries and C Lemuel Jeanpierre is out with a neck injury.

The Chargers will be playing without center Nick Hardwick, who suffered a season-ending neck injury during last week’s game. Right tackle D.J. Fluker is also out for the game against the Seahawks after suffering a knee injury in the opener.

Latest Line – The Seahawks are favored to win by 6.

A lot of people will be surprised if the defending Super Bowl champions lose on Sunday, as they clearly will have the superior offense and defense on the field, but anything can happen in a football game and the Seahawks will do well to remember that.
