Stanford (No.16) vs Washington Preview

In week 5 the 16th ranked Stanford Cardinal head to Husky Stadium in Seattle, Washington to face the Washington Huskies. The Cardinal are 2-1 SU and ATS. The Huskies are 4-0 SU and 1-3 ATS.

Stanford is coming off a huge win 35-0 against Army. Quarterback Kevin Hogan who has 705 yards and 7 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Barry Sanders leads the rushing game with 142 yards on 18 carries and a 7.9 yards per carry average. Ty Montgomery leads the wide receivers with 246 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Stanford Cardinal defense is the best in the country allowing only 4.3 points per game and 204 yards per game through this week 4.

Washington is coming off a win against Georgia State 52-14 last week. Quarterback Cyler Miles who has 525 passing yards and 5 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Lavon Coleman leads the rushing game with 268 yards, 1 touchdown and a 4.4 yards per carry average. John Ross leads the wide receivers with 224 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Huskies defense has allowed 25.3 points per game and 405 yards per game through week 4.

Keys to Stanford win

Stanford will need to shut down Cyler Miles. In addition they will need their 1st ranked defense to continue playing well.

Keys to Washington win

Washington will have to shut down Kevin Hogan. In addition, Washington will have to find a way to score on the number one ranked defense in the country.

Conclusion

This will be a close game. However, Stanford’s No. 1 ranked defense will hold Washington’s score down. The Cardinal will improve to 3-1 on the season.
