Temple vs Connecticut Preview

In week ,5 the Temple Owls head to Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut to face the Connecticut Huskies Saturday. The Owls are 2-1 SU and ATS. The Huskies are 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS.

The Temple Owls are coming off a huge win 59-0 against Delaware State last week. Quarterback P.J. Walker who has 574 yards and 6 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Jamie Gilmore leads the rushing game with 126 yards, 1 touchdown and a 5.7 yards per carry average. Jalen Fitzpatrick leads the wide receivers with 180 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Temple Owls defense has been outstanding through for weeks only allowing 12.7 points per game and 296 yards per game.

Connecticut is coming off a close loss 17-14 against South Florida last week.  Quarterback Chandler Whitmer who has 502 passing yards and 4 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Max DeLorenzo leads the rushing game with 140 yards on 39 carries and a 3.6 yards per carry average. Geremy Davis leads the wide receivers with 288 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Connecticut Huskies defense has allowed 26.5 points per game and 344 yards per game through week 4.

Keys to Temple win

Temple will need to shut down quarterback Chandler Whitmer. In addition, the Owls defense will need to continue playing outstanding.

Keys to Connecticut win

Connecticut will have to shut down RB Jamie Gilmore. In addition, the Huskies offense will have to find a way to score on a very tough Temple defense.

Conclusion

This will be a very close game. However, Connecticut will find a way to score on Temple’s defense. Connecticut will improve to 2-3 on the season.
