Carolina Panthers Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Preview

The Carolina Panthers travel to Raymond James Stadium on Sunday to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In their final game of the preseason, the Panthers shut out the Pittsburgh Steelers with a score of 10-0. The Buccaneers lost to the Washington Redskins in their final game, scoring 10 points to Washington’s 24. The Panthers ended the preseason with a record of 2-2. The Buccaneers went 1-3 in the preseason.

The health of the Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton may be a factor in the game as he is recovering from ankle surgery performed in the offseason and several broken ribs from a preseason injury. He has been participating in practices and is prepared to play on Sunday. If the Panthers offensive line is able to keep Newton from being sacked, they stand a better chance of winning the game.

The key to the Buccaneers winning on Sunday will be their ability to limit the number of points the Panthers can put on the board. The Buccaneers’ defensive line is solid, with tackle Gerald McCoy and linebacker Lavonte David two of the finest in the league in their respective positions. The offensive line showed many weaknesses in the preseason and the Panthers are prepared to exploit every mistake that Tampa Bay makes, so limiting mistakes and interceptions will be very important if the Buccaneers want to win.

Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton is the only player listed on the injury report for the team and he is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Buccaneers RB Charles Sims will be out for the first half of the season due to ankle surgery. The Buccaneers will also be missing DE Da’Quan Bowers, DE William Gholston, S Bradley McDougald, CB Rashaan Melvin and WR Louis Murphy.

Latest Line – The Buccaneers are favored to win by 1.5.

The game will be close, but the effectiveness of the Buccaneers’ defense will result in them winning the day.
