Eastern Illinois vs Ohio Preview


In week 5, the Eastern Illinois Panthers head to Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio to face the Ohio Bobcats Saturday. The Panthers are 1-3 SU. The Bobcats are 2-2 SU and ATS.

Eastern Illinois is coming off a huge win of 63-7 against Austin Peay last week.  Quarterback Jalen Whitlow who had 159 yards and 2 touchdowns last week against Austin Peay leads the offense this season. Whitlow also leads the rushing game with 137 yards, 2 touchdowns and a 9.1 average yards per carry. Adam Drake leads the wide receivers with 81 yards on 4 receptions.

The Eastern Illinois Panthers defense allowed 224 yards and 7 points last week.

Ohio is coming off a 31-24 loss against Cincinnati last week. Quarterback Darrius Vick who has 530 passing yards and 4 touchdowns leads the offense this season. A.J. Ouellette leads the rushing game with 201 yards, 2 touchdowns and a 5.3 average yards per carry. Brendan Cope leads the wide receivers with 186 yards on 10 receptions.

The Ohio Bobcats defense allows 25.5 points per game and 454 yards per game so far this season.

Keys to Eastern Illinois win

Eastern Illinois will have to shut down quarterback Darrius Vick and in order to do that they will have to bring pressure. In addition, Eastern Illinois will have to have their defense continue playing strong.

Keys to Ohio win

Ohio will need to shut down dual threat quarterback Jalen Whitlow. In addition, the Bobcats will need Darrius Vick to continue playing well.

With Darrius Vick out this week it will be a close game. However, Ohio will run the ball well and find a way to win. Ohio will improve to 3-2 on the season.
