Frank Lampard Set to Join New York City FC


Soccer News MLS Frank Lampard has been without a club since he left Chelsea at the start of June, but a new home home is on the horizon, the New York City FC. After receiving offers from a number of teams all over the world Lampard has settled on a deal from the new MLS franchise in New York, where he he will join up with the club’s first signing David Villa.

The team is part-owned by Manchester City chief Sheikh Mansour. The deal should become official next week, but the team does not begin play until March 2015.

Until then, Lampard could spend some time with New York’s sister club Melbourne City FC over the next few months.

During his 13 years at Chelsea, Lampard became the club’s all-time record goal scorer and won three Premier League titles and the Champions League, plus the Europa League and four FA Cups.

He also has over 100 caps for England and has appeared in the last three World Cups, although he only saw the pitch against Costa Rica while in Brazil.
