Green Bay Packers Vs Seattle Seahawks Preview, Updates

In the first regular season game of 2014, the Green Bay Packers will face the Seattle Seahawks at 8:30pm on Thursday, September 4 at CenturyLink Field. Last week, the Seahawks lost their final preseason game to the Oakland Raiders with a final score of 41-31. The Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 34–14 in their final game of the preseason. The Packers went 3-1 in the preseason games, while the Seahawks earned a 2-2 record for the preseason.

The Packers have dramatically improved their defense since last season, which was necessary if they were to win against Seattle. Green Bay also has one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Aaron Rodgers and his quick thinking makes it possible for Green Bay to win games that they arguably should have lost. Rodgers has a career completion percentage of 65.8 and has thrown for 133 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Packers’ running back Eddie Lacy was named Rookie of the Year last season and is on track to have another great season this year.

Coming off of a Super Bowl win last season, the Seahawks have the confidence and the skill to get the win. Russell Wilson, who led the NFL in preseason passer rating, is very efficient at quarterback. The Seahawks also run the ball more than many other N.F.L., seeing success more often than not.

Packers’ nose tackle B.J. Raji, center J.C. Tretter and tight end Brandon Bostick will not be playing in the season opener against Seattle due to injuries. Offensive lineman Don Barclay, wide receiver Jared Abbrederis, and tight end Colt Lyerla are also on the injured list for the upcoming game.

Seahawks’ running back Christine Michael and defensive end Michael Bennett are still recovering from hamstring injuries. Defensive end Bruce Irvin is recovering from hip surgery performed in the offseason and defensive tackle Tony McDaniel is still rehabbing his knee.

Latest Line – The Seahawks are favored to win by 5.

For the past two years, the defending Super Bowl Champions have lost their opening game of the next season. This year, the Seahawks are expected to break that streak.
