USATSI_6542092DENTON, Texas – The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs travel to Denton to take on the North Texas Mean Green. Both teams improved to 1-1 with blowout wins last week as Louisiana Tech beat the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 48-20 and North Texas downed the SMU Mustangs 43-6.

The Bulldogs are averaging 389 yards and 32 points a game and have been on both ends of blowouts already this season. Senior Cody Sokol has thrown for 486 yards with four touchdowns and a pick while the rushing attack has been bolstered by junior Kenneth Dixon who is averaging 8.1 yards per carry for 226 yards and two scores. Louisiana Tech’s defense has struggled allowing 425 yards and 34 points a game so far on the year but have been able to force five turnovers. Junior linebacker C.J. Cleveland leads the team with 17 tackles while senior defensive lineman Devon McKinney leads with two tackles for loss.

The Mean Green are averaging 224 yards and 25 points per game and responded well after their week one ineptitude. The run game has been led by senior Reggie Pegram (131 yards, TD), freshman Jeffrey Wilson (79 yards) and junior Antoinne Jimmerson (77 yards, TD). Sophomore quarterback Josh Greer showed improvement on last week with a more efficient outing. The North Texas defense is allowing 314 yards and 22 points per game while forcing seven turnovers. Junior defensive back Kenny Buyers leads the team with 12 tackles, two for loss on a team that has 12 tackles for loss on the year.

The Bulldogs must establish the running game through Dixon. The defense will have to be motivated to stop the run game.
