Louisville No 21 at Virginia college Football Preview


In week 3 the 21st ranked Louisville Cardinals (2-0 overall) travel to Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia to face the Virginia Cavaliers (1-1 overall) on Saturday.

Louisville had a convincing win against Murray State 66-21 last week. The Cardinals were led by Will Gardner with 133 passing yards and 2 TDs. In addition, L.J. Scott led the rushing game with 126 yards and 1 TD on 11 carries. Kai De La Cruz led the wide receivers with 4 receptions for 53 yards and 1 TD.

The Cardinals defense allowed 292 yards and 21 points last week. However, they had one interception.

Virginia beat Richmond 45-13 last week. Quarterback Greyson Lambert led the Cavaliers with 102 passing yards and 1 TD. In addition, Kevin Parks lead the rushing game with 52 yards and 1 TD on 13 carries.

The Cavaliers defense allowed 422 yards but only 13 points last week. However, they forced 7 turnovers – 4 fumble recoveries and 3 interceptions.

Keys to Louisville win

Louisville needs quarterback Will Gardner to play well and not turn the ball over. In addition, L.J. Scott needs to continue producing strongly rushing the ball. The Cardinals defense needs to continue playing well but keep the score down and force some turnovers.

Keys to Virginia win

The Cavaliers need quarterback Greyson Lambert to get involved in the passing game a bit more but not turn the ball over. In addition, the Cavaliers defense needs to continue playing great and forcing turnovers.

It will be a close game but Louisville should come out with a win Saturday. The offense is much stronger than the defense for Virginia and Will Gardner will exploit the Virginia weaknesses.
