New Orleans Saints vs Cleveland Browns Preview

The New Orleans Saints meet up with the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio for their second game of the regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm. In week one, the Saints faced the Atlanta Falcons and were defeated in overtime with an ending score of 37-34. Last week, the Browns faced the Pittsburgh Steelers and lost the game 30-27. Both teams are heading into week two with a record of 0-1.

The Saints’ offense has been better than expected this season. On the other side of the coin, the Saints are giving up way too many yards. In the game against the Falcons last week, the defense gave up nearly 600 yards. The Browns are not quite as versatile as the Falcons, so if the Saints can find a way to limit their yardage in the first half of the game, their techniques should work for the remainder of the game and help them reach the win.

For the Browns to win on Sunday, they will have to figure out how to counteract the Saints’ passing and rushing games. The Saints’ players are very physical and the Browns are going to have to get physical too to stay in the game. Quarterback Brian Hoyer showed strength and accuracy in the season opener and has managed to pick up the pace of the offense, so rookie Johnny Manziel will remain at backup for a while longer.

On Sunday, the Saints will have RB Erik Lorig and S Marcus Ball sitting on the sideline recovering from injuries. Also missing will be LB Khairi Fortt, who is on injured reserve due to a foot injury.

The Browns will be playing against the Saints without RB Ben Tate, DE John Hughes, and G Paul McQuistan, who are all recovering from injuries. CB Isaiah Trufant has been put on the injured reserve list and DE Desmond Bryant is doubtful for the game due to a wrist injury.

Latest Line – The Saints are favored to win by 7.

The Browns’ comeback against the Steelers last week was impressive, but that type of last minute rally is not going to be enough to overcome the Saints.
