New York Giants Vs Detroit Lions: Preview

In the first Monday Night Football game of the season, the New York Giants face off against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. Last week, the Lions soundly defeated the Buffalo Bills 23-0 in their last game of the preseason. The New York Giants played against the New England Patriots and beat them 16-13. The Giants were undefeated in the preseason with a record of 5-0. The Lions only lost one game in the preseason, ending with a 3-1 record.

In this game, the amount of time that each offense has on the field will be a big factor in which team wins the game. Both offensive lines showed in the preseason that they could make plays and keep the ball moving down the field. For the Giants to win, they need to keep their offense on the field as much as possible and remove the Lions offense from the field as quickly as possible. Quarterback Eli Manning will need to find his rhythm early in the game to make this happen,

The key to the win for the Lions is their offense. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is well rounded and can make decisions quickly under pressure. Gaining wide receiver Golden Tate and tight end Eric Ebron will make the offensive line even more effective.

The Giants will be playing on Monday without OG Geoff Schwartz and WR Odell Beckham Jr. is listed as doubtful for the game. LB Jon Beason is listed as questionable and S Stevie Brown has designated as probable to play.

Lions’ S Don Carey is out for the game against the Giants, as is LB Kyle Van Noy. S James Ihedigbo is also on the injury list as doubtful to play on Monday.

Latest Line – The Lions are favored to win by 5.

When the game is between the Lions’ defense and the Giants’ offense, it will be a pretty even matchup in both speed and skill, but the Lions’ offense should be able to overwhelm the Giants’ defense and that is what will win the game.
