Northern Illinois at UNLV


In week 3 the Northern Illinois Huskies (2-0 overall) travel to Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada to face the UNLV Rebels (1-1 overall) Saturday.

Northern Illinois beat Northwestern 23-15 last week. The Huskies were led by quarterback Drew Hare who had 109 passing yards and 2 TDs. In addition, Akeem Daniels led the rushing game was 81 yards on 16 carries. Da’Ron Brown led the wide receivers with 128 yards and 2 TDs on 6 receptions.

NIU’s defense allowed 394 yards and 15 points last week. In addition, they had one interception.

UNLV beat N Colorado in a very close game 13-12 last week. UNLV was led by quarterback Blake Decker who had 121 yards and 1 TD but threw 3 interceptions. In addition, George Naufahu led the rushing game with 90 yards on 22 carries. Devonte Boyd led the receivers was 58 yards on 2 receptions.

UNLV’s defense allowed 327 yards and 12 points. In addition, they had 1 interception.

Keys to Northern Illinois win

Northern Illinois is going to need quarterback Drew Hare to play better than last week. NIU’s defense needs to continue playing well and force some more turnovers.

Keys to UNLV win

UNLV is going to need Blake Decker to play much better than last week and not turn the ball over through the air three times. In addition, the Rebels will need their defense to keep playing well. However, they need to force some more turnovers.

It should be a good game on Saturday but Northern Illinois should win. Drew Hare needs to get a bit more involved in the passing game to open up the run game for Akeem Daniels.
