Tennessee vs Georgia (No.12) Preview


In week 5, the Tennessee Volunteers head to Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia to face their SEC rivals the 12th ranked Georgia Bulldogs Saturday. The Volunteers are 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS. The Bulldogs are 2-1 SU and ATS.

The Tennessee Volunteers are coming off a loss to Oklahoma 34-10. Quarterback Justin Worley who has a 721 passing yards and 6 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Jalen Hurd leads the rushing game with 209 yards, 1 touchdown and a 4.4 yards per carry average. Marquez North leads the wide receivers with 173 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Tennessee’s defense has been pretty good this season only allowing 20 points and 343 yards per game.

The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off a huge win last week 66-0 against Troy.  Quarterback Hutson Mason who has 419 passing yards and 4 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Todd Gurley leads the rushing game with 404 yards, 4 touchdowns and a 9.8 yards per carry average. Chris Conley is the leading wide receiver with 121 yards on 8 receptions.

George’s defense has also been pretty good this season only allowing 19.7 points per game and 318 yards per game.

Keys to Tennessee win

Tennessee will have to shut down running back Todd Gurley if they want to have any chance of winning. In addition, Justin Worley will need to spread the ball around and mix the run/pass game up to keep Georgia guessing.

Georgia will need Todd Gurley to continue playing great. In addition, Hutson Mason will need to be a bit more involved to help Todd Gurley out.

This will be a good SEC matchup. However, Georgia will come out on top will Todd Gurley playing another great game and the Bulldogs wearing the Tennessee team down with power football.
