UCLA (No.11) vs Arizona State (No.15) Preview


UCLA 1In week 5 the 11th ranked UCLA Bruins head to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona to face the 15th ranked Arizona State Sun Devils Thursday. The Bruins are 3-0 SU and 0-3 ATS. The Sun Devils are 3-0 SU and 1-2 ATS.

The UCLA Bruins are coming off a win 20-17 against Texas. Quarterback Brett Hundley who has 686 passing yards and 3 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Paul Perkins leads the rushing game with 304 yards, 2 touchdowns and a 4.8 yards per carry average. Jordan Payton leads the wide receivers with 266 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Bruins defense allows 24 points per game and 392 yards per game so far this season.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are coming off a win 38-24 against Colorado.  Quarterback Taylor Kelly who has 625 passing yards and 6 touchdowns leads the offense this season. D.J. Foster leads the rushing game with 510 yards, 5 touchdowns and a 9.4 yards per carry average. Jaelen Strong leads the wide receivers with 266 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Sun Devils defense has been pretty good this season only allowing 20.3 points per game and 396 yards per game.

Keys to UCLA win

UCLA will have to shut down the run game of D.J. Foster. In addition, the Bruins will have to have quarterback Brett Hundley continue playing well, if he plays. His elbow on his none throwing arm was injured against Texas.

Keys to Arizona State win

Arizona State will have to shut down quarterback Brett Hundley and to do that they will have to bring a lot of pressure and get in his face. Taylor Kelly will not play due to injury.

This will be a very close game. However, with UCLA’s QB Brett Hundley questionable for Thursday’s game Arizona State hopes to take advantage of every opportunity, but the Sun Devils will be without Kelly at quarterback as well. Take UCLA less the points.
