Washington Redskins vs Houston Texans preview

This Sunday, we will see the Washington Redskins face off against the Houston Texans at 1:00pm in Reliant Stadium. Both teams are working with new head coaches that are experiencing their first year leading an NFL team. In their last preseason game, Washington met the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won 24-10. Houston played against the San Francisco 49ers for their last game of the preseason and lost with an end score of 40-13. Washington leaves the preseason with a record of 3-1. Houston earned a record of 2-2 in the preseason.

The Washington Redskins defense will be the key to their winning on Sunday. Their defense ended up last season ranked in 30th place in number of points allowed. They will need to shore up their defense and show that the moves that they made during the offseason were the right choices, including signing defensive end Jason Hatcher and inside linebacker Keenan Robinson.

The Texans have several efficient pass-rushers that could force issues and mistakes for their opponents’ offensive lines. Washington has been having issues with protection and giving their quarterback Robert Griffin III enough time in the pocket. If they can force Griffin into situations where he cannot step into his throws, it will considerably impact the course of the game.

The Redskins will be playing on Sunday without Akeem Jordan, who is out with a knee injury, and Tracy Porter, who is out with a hamstring injury. Texans tight end Garrett Graham was the only member of his team listed as “Did not Practice” on the injury report, held out because of a back injury.

Latest Line – Houston is favored to win by 3 on Sunday.

Both teams have some things that they need to work on, both for offense and defense, but Houston has the skill set to ultimately pull out the win.
