Western Kentucky at Middle Tennessee


In week 3 the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (1-1 overall) travel to Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to face the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders       (1-1 overall) Saturday.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers lost to Illinois last week 42-34. The Hilltoppers were led by Brandon Doughty who had 297 passing yards and 2 TDs. He also had 1 interception. In addition, Leon Allen led the rushing game with 118 yards and 1 TD on 24 carries. Antwane Grant led the receiving game with 58 yards and 1 touchdown on 4 receptions.

Western Kentucky’s defense allowed 520 yards and 42 points last week. In addition, they had 2 fumble recoveries and 1 interception.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders lost to Minnesota 35-24 last week. The Blue Raiders were led by Austin Grammar with 255 yards and 1 TD but he did throw 3 interceptions. In addition, Reggie Whatley led the rushing game with 84 yards and 2 TDs on 14 carries. Ed’Marques Batties led the receiving game with 88 yards on 7 receptions.

Middle Tennessee’s defense has allowed 351 yards and 35 points last week. In addition, they did have 1 interception.

Keys to Western Kentucky win

Western Kentucky is going to need QB Brandon Doughty to play a good game and not turn the ball over. Western Kentucky’s defense has to play better than last week.

Keys to Middle Tennessee win

Middle Tennessee’s quarterback Austin Grammar has to play better this week and cannot turn the ball over. The Blue Raiders defense also has to improve and try a force more turnovers

This will be very close game Saturday but Middle Tennessee should win. MTS will likely exploit a weak secondary of Western Kentucky.
