Western Michigan vs Virginia Tech Preview


In week 5, the Western Michigan Broncos head to Lane Stadium to face the Virginia Tech Hokies Saturday. The Broncos are 1-2 SU and ATS. The Hokies are 2-2 SU and ATS.

Western Michigan is coming off a win of 45-14 against Murray State. Quarterback Zach Terrell who has 712 passing yards and 6 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Jarvion Franklin leads the rushing game with 542 yards, 9 touchdowns and a 6.6 yards per carry average. Daniel Braverman leads the wide receivers with the 313 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Western Michigan’s defense allowed 305 yards and 14 points last week against Murray State.

Virginia Tech is coming off a very close loss of 27-24 against Georgia Tech last week.  Quarterback Michael Brewer who has 1045 passing yards and 7 touchdowns leads the offense this season. Shai McKenzie leads the rushing game with 182 yards, 2 touchdowns and a 5.2 yards per carry average. Isaiah Ford leads the wide receivers with 260 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Virginia Tech’s defense allows 21.3 points per game and 349 yards per game so far this season.

Keys to Western Michigan win

Western Michigan will have to shut down quarterback Michael Brewer and the Virginia Tech passing game. In addition, Jarvion Franklin will need to have another good game.

Virginia Tech will have to shut down the running game of Jarvion Franklin. In addition, Shai McKenzie will have to run the ball better than he has been this season.

This will be a pretty easy game for Virginia Tech. However, they will need Michael Brewer to play another great game. VT will improve to 3-2 on the season.
